Miata's 2010 MX-5

Miata MX-5 NextGen Style Moved Back a Few Years

The next generation of the highly coveted Mazda Miata MX-5 has been pushed back to as late as 2012, according to Mazda’a global design chief Lauren Van den Acker.
Mazda is developing a new generation of lightweight platforms and fuel-efficient powertrains, and a new coupe version. Mazda has revealed that the car’s styling and proportions would be closer in size to the original 1989 model. However, interior space and safety will be better than the current car due to improved engineering and clever packaging.
Although the new model will not be available for several years, Mazda did recently give the MX-5 a slight update to keep it fresh in a very competitive market. The update includes revamping both the interior and exterior, and giving the engine a 500rpm higher rev limit to 7,500rpm.
